At the TBF2012, you"ll receive bachata instruction from the same teachers for 3 hours, and the last 3 hours Zouk Instructors in each room. This allows you to get used to their teaching style. The course content fits altogether so it feels more like one condensed workshop, helping students to remember the moves much more effectively.
 
This year we are packaging the workshops differently. Zouk lovers can purchase a Zouk pass to take the zouk workshops only. We are also offering 3 hours of zouk per day, instead of 1. Zouk has exploded this year!

2 extra hours of workshops this year=6 hours of bachata & 6 hours of zouk in total.
Bachata only pass, Zouk only pass, and Combo passes available.
Choice of buying in 3 hour blocks for your convenience.

TBF Workshop Schedule 2012
Friday Feb 17: Acrobat Lounge 2464 Yonge St., $20 w workshops or $15 without after 10pm.

• 4 shows at 11:15 and international instructor demos!
• 8-9pm All-level Zouk lesson by Brazil Dance World. 
• 9-10pm All-level Bachata lesson by Go Dance Mambo.

 
Instructor styles
Darlin is Dominican, and he dances a sensual, highly rhythmical bachata with lots of contrast in turns (slow, med, fast) with Liz. Darlin gets down and dirty!

Troy and Jorjet dance Dominican-style, but it's different than Darlin/LIz's. They dance with lots of rhythm in the feet, and not so close, more in an elegant close hold.

Carlos and Lenka dance Rio-Style zouk. He is Brazilian, she is from Prague.

 
*All workshops are different than last year’s TBF 2011.
*Workshops are meant to be progressive, so if you learn a turn pattern, the next class will use the same turn pattern but add styling, or musicality.

* Videotaping allowed at the last 5 minutes of each workshop.
*We have volunteers to balance out male/female partners. No partner needed to join.

*Tech Rehearsals-Only ONE tech Sat Feb 18 @5:45-6:45pm in the main room for Sat AND Sun performers. Thurs/Fri don’t get a tech. 
 
All Workshops Day and Night from Thursday-Sunday available to you:

1 hour of Intro to Bachata on Friday @Acrobat Lounge (not included in pass)
1 hour of All-level Zouk on Friday @Acrobat Lounge (not included in pass)
 
A Full Weekend Pass includes:

• 1 hour of All level Bachata on Saturday @ TBF at Estonian House
• (included with full pass or Saturday night or 2-night pass). 
• 3 hours of beginner/intermediate BACHATA workshops by Troy & Jorjet (Saturday)
• 3 hours of intermediate/advanced BACHATA workshops by Troy & Jorjet (Sunday)
• 3 hours of intermediate/advanced BACHATA workshops by Darlin & Liz (Saturday)
• 3 hours of beginner/intermediate BACHATA workshops by Darlin & Liz (Sunday)
• 3  hours of intermediate/advancedZOUK workshops by Carlos & Lenka (Saturday)
• 3 hours of beginner/intermediate ZOUK workshops by Carlos & Lenka (Sunday)
• 1 hour of Adv Beginner ZOUK workshop by Darius Zi (Saturday)
• 45 min of All-level Bahcata by Angelo and Kathy (Saturday night) 

Total of 6 hours of workshops in one day, with choice of taking beg/int or int/adv levels. Please be realistic and if you are an advanced beginner, don't go into the advanced workshop and slow down the class or complain it's too hard!
In fact, taking beg/int will always be beneficial to you, no matter your level :)
 
 
TBF Pre-Party Schedule February 16-17, 2012

There are 4 night parties and 2 day workshops during the TBF 2012. Passes cover Sat/Sun only. Thurs/Fri are pre-parties and tickets are sold at the door.
 
Pre-Party #1 Thursday, February 16, 2 socials, 2 rooms!

• Dovercourt House, 805 Dovercourt Road, 9:30-1am.
• $10 includes bachata/salsa/zouk on 1st floor.
• 9:30pm Black and Red theme! Social dancing
• Bar available. Djs Mr B and Danilo of Corporacion Sabor!
• 11pm 2 Shows and social dancing til 1am.

 
Pre-Party #2 Friday, February 18
Acrobat Lounge, 8pm-2am (2464 Yonge st, upstairs)
8-10pm 2 Workshops 

• 8-9pm Zouk Workshop by Brazil Dance World
• 9-10pm Basic Domincan-style footwork (during partnerwork) Bowie Romero & Steph
• 10-11pm Social dancing
• 11-11:30 Four Shows and international instructor demos!
• 11:30-2am Social dancing in salsa, bachata & zouk.

6 hours of afternoon workshops 12-6pm, with top international instructors, in bachata and zouk. Students are much happier taking 4 hours compared to salsa congress workshops where you take workshops all day and end up being overwhelmed by information.


Gala Party Saturday, February 18th, 2012

• 7:30-8:15pm All-level Bachata Workshop by Angelo Torres and Kathy Dondish
• 8:15-9pm Bachata Snowball & Social Dancing to DJ music and separate Zouk room!
• 9-10pm Awesome Performances by international and local schools
• 10:45-1am Social Dancing continues to DJ music
• After Party downstairs at Ulle's Cafe til 4am+!!! Capacity 80 pple. We will play bachata,salsa and zouk.

Day Workshops #2 Sunday, February 19

Crystal room: Beg/Int Level
 
Afternoon Workshops will be one hour each
Bachata instruction from the same teachers for 3 hours, and the last 2 hours Zouk Instructors (directly from Brazil) in each room. They will switch rooms instead of you.
 

Night Party & Competition Finals Sunday, February 20
@Estonian House 8pm-2:30am
(No lesson tonight)

• 7:30pm-9pm Social Dancing to DJ with separate Zouk room!
• 9-10pm Bachata Competition (4 Pro, 4 Amateur) and 3 Performances
• 10-1am-1am Social Dancing to DJ and and Announcement of Competition Winners!!
• After Party downstairs at Ulle's Cafe til 4am+!!! Capacity 80 pple. We will play bachata,salsa and zouk.

 
(Monday is Family Day Holiday! You can sleep in!!!)
