2011 Toronto Bachata Festival Performers and Artists

We are committed to bringing you the best local and international Bachatero Instructor and Performer Teams. Performers and Artists officially confirmed for the 2nd Annual Toronto Bachata Festival are:

Tanja la Alemena and Jorge Ataca (Tampa, Florida originally from Germany and Puerto Rico respectively) teaching day workshops.
Darlin Garcia (Phialdelphia, originally from the Dominican Republic), teaching day workshops.
Brazil Dance World is sponsoring Special guests K-Yo from Brazil and Kim of NYC, teaching teaching one zouk workshop during the day. Dance with them in the Zouk Room!
Ottawa-based Salsa Ole teaching the night bachata workshop on Saturday.
Go Dance Mambo's Bowie Romero from T.O , teaching 2 night bachata workshops Friday 8-10pm and the salsa workshop Saturday 4-5pm.
Darius of T.O is teaching an Intro to Zouk for salsa dancers Sunday, 4-5pm.

All guests invited are accessible, approachable, warm, will dance with absolutely everyone ...all night long!

About K-Yo

K-Yo is an incredible leader and instructor in Brazilian Zouk. Yes, he is coming directly from Brazil to our festival!

Carioca Caio Victor, known as K-Yo Victor, is a renowned Brazilian Zouk instructor and DJ. He was born in Rio de Janeiro and currently lives and teaches in Brasília, the Capital of Brazil. He has taught Salsa and Brazilian Ballroom Dance and since 2004.K-Yo’s style of teaching focuses on musicality and leading. In 2005, he joined the group SOULZOUK and teaches Zouk across Brazil in cities such as Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Salvador. He has also been invited to teach in New York City and now Canada.

About Salsa Ole

Salsa Olé features their work in a wide variety of events, such as salsa competitions (placing first to third in a wide variety of competitions), workshops, dance teaching engagements, all while leading the Salsa Olé AMATEUR and SEMI-PRO Dance Teams.

Salsa Olé's Julie-Ann and Luc are renowned for their creativity and dynamism, and are recognized for sharing their common passion with generosity and enthusiasm. This is thanks to the many activities in which they partake – all focused on the promotion of salsa throughout their locality.

Salsa Olé Studio is situated in the National Capital Region of Canada, Ottawa-Gatineau.

About Go Dance Mambo's Bowie Romero

Bowie has been teaching salsa, mambo, bachata and cha cha in Toronto for over 3 years and has been the Sunday Salsa Social dj for just over 2 years. Bowie's training consists in the Go Dance Mambo Training Program, and has travelled extensively to New York City to attend Eddie Torres and Frankie Martinez classes, including attending New York's best socials-Jimmy Anton Social and la Vieja Guardia social. Bowie deejayed SalsaGlam's bachata room and salsa room 2010, and has been invited to the New Jersey Congress April 2011. His musicality is exceptional and turn patterns are definitely spicy! Bowie is inspired by Baila Society, Oliver Pineda in mambo, and Troy and Jorjet in bachata. He now is the only Dominican-style footwork instructor in Toronto and Go Dance Mambo is proud to have him!

Your Toronto Bachata Festival DJs:

DJ Danilo of Corporacion Sabor will be spinning urban bachata and salsa greats at the start of both weekend nights.Confirmed!

DJ Mr B, of the popular Sunday Salsa Social, the Thursday Salsa Social and guest DJ at 2010 SalsaGlam in Montreal. Mr B specializes in vintage salsa, bachata urbana, traditional bachata, and vintage cha cha. He'll be spinning the shows and the social after 11pm. Confirmed!
