Guest instructor Rafael Steyners is leading this Cuban-infused, raw and super gritty performance group for committed advanced ladies who love being on a team.

Rafael is the BEST REGGAETON DANCER I've seen in Toronto!!! We are lucky to have this Cuban-born, ex-Tropicana dancer teaching this class.

High level of body isolation combinations to an easy beat, reggaeton is by far more popular in Cuba than salsa! The beauty of knowing basic reggaeton moves, is you can place them in any dance!

The choreography will be fast-paced and includes the opening reggaeton section followed by a salsa section. The salsa choreography will teach you more body movement and lots of arm styling, grace and body awareness.

To be performed at our Annual Sunday Salsa Social xmas party!

Learn all about make-up, stage, costume and presenting beautiful 'lines' to the audience.

Afro-Cuban is not Rumba or Guaguanco. Afro-Cuban traces the roots of salsa by exploring movement attributed to the Santos or Saints in Santeria. These are archetypes, very much like the Greek mythology including Zeus, Athena, Demetre, Apollo, Persephone, etc. Each one has a story to tell-and each movement in salsa tells the story!

DID YOU KNOW every other salsa song you'll hear mentions one of the following saints:

Eleggua, Oshun, Obatala, Yemaya, Ogun, Babaluu (Oh THAT's why the club we know in Yorkville is called Babaluu's!), Shango, Oya.

You are not a true salsero/a if you don't understand the major saints and the power it has even today on the Caribbean Latin culture, on current-day salsa music and salsa dancing.

This class will definitely make you sweat, as Rafael is known to get you movin!

Bring your bare feet and willingness to 'let go'.

BREAK AFTER MONDAY DEC 7-RESUME JAN 4

This is a unique course that explores Burlesque and combines it with salsa dancing.

There are 3 types of sexy women in Burlesque: La Femme Fatale, la Coquette and le Clown.

In a series of workshops, the ladies will identify with one of these types and create a character (un personnage) or alter-ego and a new name. The new you will learn what body positions are flattering (like in modelling), how to use your body to be seductive.

Learn a choreography to a specific song and develop your styling, body movement, musicality and stage performance. This course offers the highest level of acting or performance quality, often missed in other student groups due to focus on turn patterns.

Interview required (not audition) to ensure that ladies are at an advanced salsa stage. Must have either done a student group before, be an experienced club-goer or have a willingness to study hard for 5 and half months. Performance is a must.

Multiple show opportunities. Professional photo shoot optional.

1st show at the Vavoom Valentine`s Ball

Performers receive a discounted weekend with bachata and burlesque workshops.
